Our PACRTA meeting was held Tues, Oct. 14, 2008 in the Paulding United

      Methodist Church at 5:30 PM.

       This October our chapter celebrated its 40^th ANNIVERSARY. We want to make this a VERY SPECIAL meeting and celebration!!. We are trying to find out who the past presidents were from 1968 –2008. Let us know the dates and years served. We would like school memorabilia, memories, and happenings during this year.  Bring these items to the meeting. Dress for the meeting as you would have in 1968. SPEAKER: Karen Butt-Vice-President, Western Area –She will fill us in on current legislation, health care and any questions you have regarding your retirement.

October is the month MEMBERSHIP DUES for 2009 are to be paid. Please invite teachers who may not have joined and encourage them to not only pay their dues but to be active by attending the meetings to be updated on retirement issues by our speakers.

At our October meeting, we will be electing officers for 2009-2011. PCRTA is still

     SEARCHING for a President. There are ONLY 6 meetings in 2 years. The Executive

    Committee will share the responsibilities to select programs, write the Newsletter, update the directory, etc. ORTA is working for US to make the best decisions concerning OUR PENSIONS, HEALTHCARE, and LEGISLATION! These are benefits ALL OF US HAVE EARNED and want to keep! Let’s continue to demonstrate our support for ORTA by ACCEPTING THE PRESIDENCY of PCRTA.

       HB 315 (Health Care Program has been referred to the FIRES Committee)

    Open Enrollment for Health Care is scheduling a meeting Nov. 18 in Perrysburg      at 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Call 1-888-227-7877. Registration begins Oct. 1.

           EXECUTIVE MEETING: Sept. 5 - Paulding County Carnegie Library

Susan Piefer, PCCL Director informed us about the importance of passing the library levy on the November ballot which she will share at our Oct. 14^th meeting.

          During the meeting, these members volunteered to be on the ballot for

2009 – 2011 officers: President – UNFILLED; Vice-President- Marcia Pressler, Secretary- Ann Furow; Treasurer- Bill Fast. Many thanks to all of you!!!      Bill Fast reported $585.20 is in the treasury.

       Jerry Holscher was elected the new District II Director at the Chapter Presidents’ meeting in Van Wert that Nancy and Mary attended. His duties begin in January. We really appreciated Rita and congratulate Jerry on his willingness to serve.

            Volunteer hour sheets will be passed out at the October meeting.
